Actually, the Twin Towers did have chamfered corners..

It's kind of difficult to tell, but look at their edges. They're not "straight".

Yes, columns won't be visible, and they won't be either at night. LEDs will get attached to the slots. The only way columns can get visible is by moving these LEDs to a few feet inside the podium, or leaving them as they are but removing the ones that are located just in front of the structure:

More likely 10 real floors and 3 mezzanines. Topping out by 1st Q 2012, curtain wall at mid-2012 and interior work done by the end of 2013

dumb question but will the new pedestal cladding have different color schemes like the top of the empire state building?

like sometimes, it can be colored differently for different occasions?

sorry...for the badly phrased question...i am typing this at 4am after coming home from clubbing and totally drunk

Indeed, if all floors are ready still it takes months to build the spire.

I think he meant roof height topping out. In my opinion topping out can have both roof height and pinnacle height meaning

since the spire is architectural, does it mean topping out must include the spire?

It's just semantics, but you're right, officially a building tops out when the last structural steel is placed at the top of the overall framework. So yes, finishing the perimeter columns by 1st Q 2012 (this means the top of the structural roof) and topping out (antenna construction) by Autumn 2012.

Imagine: A building is topped out and the opening of the building has already been. But 3 years later, the owners decide to increase the top. Than the building is topped out twice.

The new design for the cladding of the base is terrible! The building now looks like it's been designed by three separate groups that never talk to each other. I've never thought the spire worked with the rest of the design and now the podium and the rest of the building don't work together in either! What are these architects thinking, or not thinking, whichever the case may be!

Maybe Childs didn't design it, maybe he has gotten the design from an ogre

I think the new base design is a lot more refined and suits the complex better
