Βut why? I respect your opinion, but I am curious, why does it ruin the NY skyline for you? I find it complements downtown skyline beautifully. It is tall, it is a nice unique design the location is ok, I really dont find anything wrong with it.

On a more ontopic note, please elaborate as to why the pedestal cladding is being delayed for another year?

It's much better than any of the new wtc towers. It has style, quality materials, great detailed cladding

I do agree with you. This is very beautiful and compliments the skyline very well. I personally love every thing about this skyscraper, if any thing it enhance the skyline

As of January 5, 2012, the tower's steel is at the 92nd floor (1,145 ft), while glass panels have reached the 69th floor, and concrete flooring has risen to the 85th floor. The tower is expected to top out in April of 2012.

Beekman ruined everything because it is SO beautiful. It is spectacular in person, and makes the rest of the buidlings seem just a little dull and uninspired.

This isn't a Beekman thread - but Beekman looks good up close but not good from a distance. Its color make it look dirty and prematurely aged.

Thanks for the info on the WTC1 height.

Steel won't be going up soon. When there in person you can see the innards of those floors have yet to go in. maybe towards the end of the week we can get new vertical steel. Unless of course I am simply wrong.

LowerManhattan is slightly wrong, steel is up to the 90th floor.
Great shots, Dan!

Lower Manhatten is looking even better with WTC up in there! When all the buildings currently U/C will be finished, the skyline will look more attractive than the one of Midtown.

Oh my Libeskind, I thought that when I would be back there would be new steel for sure already. This is geting so frustrating to watch, Picard's Enterprise will be completed before 1WTC. What the Libeskind are they doing up there?

Well, but enough ranting, time for new pics

Btw, what are those 2 dots on each side next to the crane on the PA cam?

Just a regular Kokak point and shoot camera. Not even a particularly good one.

Interesting to hear about Tishman. Maybe that is it. Also interesting that they were working on tower 3 on a Sunday but not on tower 1 or 4.

BTW, hope everyone notes that entranceway in the closeups of the base and how thick the concrete is. 3 feet at least. What a fortress.

BTW, what is that hole for?

LOL I think you are probably right... the only plausible explanation for how the US Government is $15,000,000,000,000 in debt is that they have secretly been building the Enterprise-D in space on the dark side of the moon... (What, you don't really think they could spend $10,000 for a hammer or $20,000 for a toilet seat do you?) We have just been building a 42-deck, 6,000 passenger 2000-foot long starship that can travel 2 billion miles per second on the other side of the moon for the last 20 years... that makes a lot more sense than the idea of having an elected two-pary government that is incapable to managing a budget and routinely spends nearly twice what is makes each year....

Wtc3 had a chance to stand out but they blew it... beekman style fits nyc much better than blueish all-glass scrappers IMO.
GTFO! Shame on you!

I don't see anything wrong with him stating his opinion even though I disagree with it

Btw, since new steel went up, I'm updating my diagram

Roof height used below!

1WTC = 353 meters or 1159 feet out of 418 meters or 1371 feet
4WTC = Approximately 235 meters or 771 feet out of 298 meters or 977 feet
157 = 188 meters or 618 feet out of 306 meters or 1005 feet

(Note: I used the 418 meter figure for 1WTC when measured from the lowest above ground entrance and I used the 298 meter figure for 4WTC.)

Edit: 1WTC is still 347 meters or 1138 feet tall, I made an error and I apologize for it.
