can't u people stop fighting each other and get back to topic please????

u can discuss that stuff in a political-thread

this is about the freedom tower and not about towers in germany, dubai or elsewhere in the world!

(BUT: to clear that- commerzbank-tower (985 ft) in frankfurt germany is europe's highest completed office-tower... so far)

now back to FT! the next columns i think must be installed during the next weeks- right?

The tallest building in Germany is a bit smaller, but not as radical as romanamerican said. Believe me, the Commerzbank tower is still pretty tall if you stand next to it. This diagram gives also a good idea how big the new WTC buildings will become.

structurally it isn't part of the Freedom Tower, but it is attached to it. The wall you see is part of the route 9A underpass project. A walkway which connects the WFC to the transportation hub.

Does anyone have any close ups of the base of these cranes - or diagrams of how they work ? They appear to be the same type that was just installed next door to me ( in Chicago ) and I am pretty sure they are the type that "crawl" up the building's core as it rises.

I cant point out your stupid view. And if you answer with thats because you are stupid you will show us your stupidness.
hahahaahah...no, I'm NOT american (this has already been talked about in previous posts). I'm much closer to germany than what you think (unfortunatly too close...).

As for the last frase, please explain it better beacuse I did't understand it (maybe because I'm stuid, probably because english is not my country's language.

By the way, I don't really care about WHO has the towers, especially since I come from a country that doesn't have any.
I'll give you a hint: while we were building marvels, you guys were still yelling around trees with animal skins as clothes. And I'm not talking about the native americans that I estime.

to forum users
Sorry for the OT but an answer to clarify was necessary. last OT

Those white blocks in the picture are thermal insulation materials, they're made from EPS (expanded polystyrene). They'll probably used for the formwork

Here's a picture of the base of the FT tower cranes:

I'm not sure, but it looks like they'll lift the cranes completely (including the base of the crane). They'll probably do that with hydraulic rams. This is different from the method they use to lift the tower crane in your picture. In your picture you'll see a climbing frame in the mast of the crane. With this climbing frame they'll insert small pieces of mast to make the crane grow higher (see picture below). As far as I can see there's no climbing frame used in the cranes of the Freedom Tower.
