Yeah! It is kind of strange that they're paying billions to destroy the organization that destroyed the twin towers, when we could just be building new targets without worrying about our national security.

Let's not make this a political discussion, but you're comparing apples and oranges. The federal government will never directly fund a project like this. It's up to the PNYNJ, and currently office space is abundant so they focus on things like public transportation, infrastructure, etc. You have to realize, ethics aren't always top priority in business.

I don't think Hong Kong as much, I think more Vancouver on really strong steroids.

Yes. The sea of high rises reminded me of HK or Shanghai's sea of concrete block apartments. Or Tokyo.

Anyway, thank god NYC does NOT look like that. I'd rather clusters of talls surrounded by low rise areas.

If I went and hibernated in a cave for the rest of winter... and woke up in spring... would there be new steel by then?

Sweet Christ that sheer density of buildings is frightening, and I don't even consider myself to be claustrophobic!

The winds finally allowed the cranes to work part of the day today and DCM was busy removing steel trusses in the cells that supported the "hotels". The winds on top of 1 WTC are different once you are so far above ground and surrounding buildings. The cranes were shut down for 1 1/2 hours due to wind today.

DCM is still supplying steel to the projects at the site as required, whether HUB, 1 WTC or 4 WTC. There is really no lay-down yard on site, so steel arrives when it is needed and can be raised on 1 WTC.

Don't worry.......that render may be good for the WTC the rest nothing like reality. Even the ESB can't figure out if it's trying to be the Chrysler Bld ?

Indeed, density is nice, but this is exaggerated. Try to make a unique design in that city.

Well as with everything, to each their own. I do like One World Trade very much, just not as much. I have no idea what all the guys saying it sucks are on about. I honestly don't think any of the other proposals were anywhere near as nice, and rebuilding the twins would just be living in the past. You don't need to resurrect those hulking monstrosities in order to remember those lost.
