Actually the court building behind the one with the goldish top was completed fairly recently, and there is a building just to the right in the foreground, the Barclay tower looks new, and was completed in 2007.

Thought I should share this picture! When I was in NYC last week I went to the Barnes and Noble about 3 blocks from the WTC, and saw this construction worker reading a book haha. It was so out of place! Cool to see them on their breaks.

So i was just wondering why the steel on the current floors is gray, mechanical floors or something?

Yes! These will be open air floors (vents) and the steel has a protective coating. See quote below.

It is a special epoxy paint since these floors are mechanical rooms with air intakes and exhaust and the fireproofing is different, cementitious. This epoxy prevents the corrosion but also allows the fireproofing to adhere to the steel and pass the required pull tests.
