It is a lot higher than you think. I have taken that exact approach to LaGuardia several times. If you are on the left side of the plane you get quite the view, especially when the plane banks right over Lower Manhattan.

Not close at all. Looks like a little bitty bug, over that building. I mean it is way up there in the sky.

That looks like a 747 with the bump on top, which means the length of that airplane is similar to the width of the tower, and in the picture it is maybe 1/8 the width of the tower, so it's very very far away.

Also, do you happen to be in security? If not, I'd say you should leave that analysis to the experts before ripping apart the new measures.
STOP THE PARANOIA. If it were for trying to cover up every single possible place we could be attacked at we would have to cover ourselves and our buildings with concrete and steel, and walk around looking more like robots than people. We have a saying in Cuba that says: "lo que va a pasar, va a pasar," which means: "whatever's going to happen, is going to happen." If you were to concern yourself with trying to cover every single weakness you would fail and you would be giving the people who mean you harm what they wanted the most... YOUR decision to live in fear of another attack.

It was a horrible deision to redesign that plaza, yes, because there were ALREADY plenty of security measures in the original design, and the second one seems to be a more crappy version of the first, despite having almost the same exact protections.

Now THIS deserves some applause

Sadly, though.

Of course the second someone attached to the project says "enough is enough" or "we're going too crazy with these security redesigns" they'll be called insensitive and then the media will pick up on it, everyone jumps on the crazy train and the whole situation gets worse. That's why A) mob rule sucks and B) the designers really need to pick their battles over security changes.
