Earthcame at 4:35-4:36
Was anyone watching the Earthcam view of the new beams at about 4:35 p.m.? I had just tuned into it, when a plane went from south to north right behind the top of the tower - pretty startling...

PARTY!!
![]() I'm realy happy about this, but I am ashamed that I'm Dutch, when I read all the comments about this on a news site everyone was saying a lot of stupid things... Like: "who cares?" and that it wassn't respectvul that it was higher and a lot of bad things about the "real story" about it... :$ + the most comments are realy weird... And I don't understand. P.S. Sorry for the typing... I'm mad!! |

Planes in the Background of the Earthcam view
Another plane went behind the top of WTC 1 in that view from the Earthcam just a few minutes ago - maybe they are takeoffs from Newark airport and there is a northerly wind in NYC today.

Technical Facts
I read an article about 1WTC, some information were new to me, probably they are also useful to you:
- only LEED Gold certification - first cost estimation: $1 billion now at about $3.8 billion - gsf. 280.000 m² e.g. 13.000 $/m² (Burj Khalifa: 4000 $/m²; Taipei 101: 5000 $/m²) - 73 elevators - energy use reduction -20 % (compared to what? 90.1-2003?) - 70 % renewable energy (offsite wind and water) - 12 fuel cells 4.8 MW electrical power 5.4 MW thermal power thermal power used for potabel hot water and running absorption chillers - total cooling power 43 MW => 150 W/m² (e.g. German standard is around 60-80 W/m² - IF the building is air-conditioned) 7000 m³/h water from Hudson river for condensor cooling - Air handling units with a total of 1.400.000 m³/h (5 m³/(m²h) = quite normal) - average rent: $100 per m² and month

As of today, it is now the tallest building in New York, surpassing the 1250 ft of the Empire State.

Congrats
Well, as long as any planes stay a safe distance away from the skyscrapers... congratulations to the workers and planners on this big milestone in the construction of the building!

Why do some reports keep saying the building won't be complete till 2014 or 2015...isn't it due to be complete next spring with tenants moving in end of next year or January 2014???
