I don't know...2,000 feet isn't much of a stretch from 1,776. I could see it happening in Midtown someday. Not in my lifetime, probably...

This is a snapshot from The Dark Knight Rises trailer, One WTC is in the middle. It´s been mentioned here. Sorry for LQ.

BTW this shot would look awesome in HQ.

Reading back over posts on this thread most people ( like me ) are happy to see 1 WTC rising over Manhattan. When people complain whether a building or future building fits or is out of place on a skyline they are using a very closed mind. The original WTC was lambasted for tilting New Yorks skyline and being out of place. Yet by the time of their demise they were an accepted and iconic feature of New York, The new WTC will become part of the New York skyline and imprint itself to replace a memory. Never forget the originals ( or the tragic loss of life ) but the world moves on and whatever gets built in whatever context becomes part of it....I think the word is familiarity.......We all just get used to something being there and it becomes part of our being. I state this as a citizen of the world......Love New York but I couldn't be much further away..........laments......

Great post! This is truly an amazing building in any case. To complain about having a building this marvelous is beyond spoiled!

It just doesn't seem as imposing (height wise) as the old WTC1 was; obviously due to being 'fatter'.

Anyone have some comparison shot of pre-9/11 and now from the same angles of the previous buildings and the current?

I agree that some perspectives of the tower don't look that tall. I think Carlos' pictures make it look enormous. But that Flickr link is an old photo

I'm new to this forum... Great pictures of a beautiful building I admire so much. The only thing I can't understand is why couldn't they just build two of them? Just make 2 WTC a twin of 1 WTC.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say this, I would be able to lease the top floor of the World Trade Center. Please let's not get into that. If you want two towers, please be my guest and donate $5 billion and we'll see what the Port Authority can do.

I laughed when I read your comment

If I had a dollar for everytime somebody said "why couldn't they just rebuild the old twin towers?" I would probably have just enough money to rebuild the old towers.

Also remember that wtc 7 is 130 feet taller than the original wtc 7 and it is right next to 1 wtc and their is also the goldman sachs building so those buildings take a little bit of 1 wtc dominance that the twins had.
