Some people may hate me for this...but just a thought about what might have been...I think this building is incredibly beautiful...Childs penned a very elegant structure...I love the design...but it falls short...way short of restoring what was lost let alone pushing beyond it.

Okay so has anyone done a rendering of this design if the roof height itself
had been 1776' feet...and as the scale would need to increase...say make the plan at the TOP be equal to that of the former Twins 208' square...would love to see it...if only to dream

My point exactly. One of these days, Communism must succumb in China.

Man, that thing is huge! A lot bigger around than you would think, looking at it from a distance.

Totally agree in every aspect. To se a drawing a vision of how it could have been in the total height of the 1wtc would have been interesting.

To the member "marsch" i think. Yes it is a interesting time in N.Y. it feels like its booming up skyscrapers again and thats what this city needs. MEGATALLS ALL OVER NEW YORK AND AMERICA

That I believe is the base of the antenna though, before it gets skinny...

lol, for real...having a big antenna at this point is a bad thing, when its horrible structure can be seen for miles around. Imagine how cheap that uncovered metal structure must look on top of the tallest tower in the financial center of the biggest, most famous and powerful city in the U.S. and the world.

These are very sad times.

Now you can see it

BEFORE -

AFTER - About 1700 feet, instead of 1372

at 1776 feet

It looks out of place at that height...

There need to be more buildings in the 9-1300 range before buildings that size are built in NYC, and soon there will be

Call me unrealistically optomistic but I have a feeling that some sort of compromise can be made within the next couple months

This compromise will be that the spire will be count to the height and that's it. Mark my words

If they do count it, I will lose all respect for the CTBUH. They can't even stick to their own rules. The architect is against the antennae, so it's definitely not an architectural part, and it is an antennae, so....

Well you see this is the problem. I wouldn't tell this is antenna. And it is definitively architectural part of the building (included in designs) so they will probably count it.

THANKS GREAT JOB

My first impression was in front of the computer

This is how it should have been planned and built from the first place, then I would have surrended and worship this fine and spectacular building

I hope we will see this tall skycrapers in New York in the near future.
OHH YEAH
