Rebuilding the WTC is always about what doesn't make sense, so we don't get it. It's been this way since the very beginning...

1 World Trade Center offers warm welcome

"Perforated aluminum screens behind the steel slats will be illuminated, making the entire tower podium glow by night — a suitable companion to the lit-up base of 7 World Trade Center nearby.

Cladding the podium will cost $40 million. Installation is to start in October."

I read that One World Trade Center is being built with more safety features including a dedicated stairway for rescue. Look it up on Wikipedia!

I would say that this tower will be the safest skyscraper ever built.

I do not apologize for being proud of the rebuilding effort.
I love NY !!

What you need to do is to copy the link to the clipboard, then paste it here when you click the "Insert Image" icon on the toolbar.

This is what the code looks like:

I saw on natgeo, that the center core, where the stairway is, is basically a bomb shelter with thick thick solid concrete walls for it's core..I forget how thick, but it was a big number like 10', 20' or more, I dunno..but wow. Not the tallest, but supposedly the strongest building on earth.

The normal concrete wall at Tower One is 3' thick, decreasing to 2' the higher you go. That's very thick compared to the standard 10"-12" concrete walls.

Enough with the spire crap!

If there's a change in Durst's plans for the antenna then post about it. Otherwise, keep this endless spire drivel out of this thread!

The top of the tower in the photo is where the cladding is now!

thank you for sharing Otie!

Certainly looking grand, and I can appreciate the 'realism' in only showing 1WTC and 4WTC . Gives a good indication of the project in about 1-2 years time.
