Again you all are dealing out of media speculation.
As of now it's still 1,776 and it will always be 1,776 until the day it is confirmed otherwise.
Therefore the tower height is

1,776.

Along with the lighting rod on top, 1,787

It is. Good thing though, it's being converted to hotels/condos. So it won't be blacked out for long.

Is it just me, but the top is getting thinner than what was supposed to be? its kinda different from the render... but I love this tower, maybe when they put up the glass it will be a little more similar to the render.

sorry if someones already asked but have we a render of spire/antenna without the casing? im really pissed about how they are reconsidered. i know its something to do with cost $20mil, but hope it doesnt ruin the look of the spire. nothing worse then an ugly 100m steel mast

World Trade Center’s Symbolic 1,776-Foot Height Is at Stake in a Redesign

"Left: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; right: Durst Organization"

"Seventeen-seventy-six will never lose its place in the history books, but its claim to the record books has been undermined by a decision not to build a sculptural fiberglass-and-steel enclosure for the central mast atop 1 World Trade Center.

It is the addition of that mast that would elevate an otherwise 1,368-foot skyscraper into a 1,776-foot structure whose defining measurement was meant to express American spirit and resolve in the face of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the private body that serves as a worldwide arbiter of building heights, will ultimately count or discount the mast in its height determination for 1 World Trade Center based on whether it is considered a functional antenna or a nonfunctional spire..."

"...“This definitely raises questions,” Kevin Brass, the public affairs manager for the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, said in a statement Wednesday. “Our criteria are very specific. We include spires and not antennas. If this is an antenna, it won’t be part of the height measurement. The cladding was an integral part of the design and made the extension part of the permanent look and feel of the building"..."

The building is very impressive and the spire/antenna takes it to it's total height. Maybe the former design overpowered attention of the building ? Looking at the new renders the tower is the focal point and the antenna stands above more like the original antenna on WTC 1.

I wish we'd get a good closeup of the roof. Those angled beams must be very close to merging. As far as all of the business with the spire is concerned I would imagine that all of the parts to the round base as well as the antenna have already been constructed so I think we're going to be stuck with it. The new renders without the enclosure make the whole thing look utilitarian and detracts from the design of the building so I would have much preferred not making 1WTC look like a giant cell phone tower and just having a flat roof but I'm sure it's too late for any changes at this point. In any case, the building itself is beautiful.

New steel is up to 1313'10'' (104th floor), meaning that 1WTC passed the 400m mark.
Two more jumps left (roof and parapet).

Those steel beams look way too small to be perimeter columns. Are you sure they are?

They are. They're just doing one floor this time. The 103rd floor is only ~20 feet high. Usually height increases are two office floors, about 27 feet high.

It'll be topped out when it reaches rooftop level. The spire is just an afterthought. Actually the rooftop would look good with out a spire at all.
