I hope they build the antenna with the cladding, not necessarily because of height, but mainly because of the appearance of the tower.
After every redesign I got a bit more disappointed. First the boxed base and now the antenna. And I'm not convinced of the new lobby design either. I understand that the developers try to make things cheaper - and it is nothing wrong with that - but this isn't just an ordinary office building. They build a new landmark.

Is it 400 meters? Yeah good news, now it's just 176 meters to the roof to go.

No now I remember this building is just 419 meters then 122 meters antenna. Damn it

This building was doped from the beginning and thats SAD

WTF is with people still blabbering on about them removing the stupid metal joint from the roof? Get over it already. And besides there are already threads for that discussion, so take it there.

If they did that I would shout with joy. The new wtc should be able to offer the visitors an observation deck on top of the wtc, to stand on the highest building in N.Y. thats why I was/is so eager to see a twin of this tower from the beginning.

One tower with an antenna/spire and the other with an observation deck just as the old twins.

But you never get what you expected

The old WTC had an observation deck on the roof because there wasn't a lot of important mechanical equipment occupying the top floor. Also, since the windows were so tiny, the view wasn't all that great and the experience wasn't as good as an outdoor deck, so they added one on the South Tower. However, in the new WTC, the roof is dedicated to important equipment, and the massive windows means the view will be as great as the view the South Tower once had.

I love Vin's shots from this angle; really captures how massive this tower is.

Agreed. I like the naked antenna much better. It's much easier, IMO, to appreciate the architecture of the tower itself that way.

I've updated my diagram with the latest progress

Roof height used below!

1WTC = 404 meters or 1324 feet out of 419 meters or 1374 feet
4WTC = Approximately 281 meters or 922 feet out of 298 meters or 977 feet
157 = 268 meters or 878 feet out of 306 meters or 1005 feet

(Note: I used the 419 meter figure for 1WTC when measured from the lowest above ground entrance and I used the 298 meter figure for 4WTC.)

seems to lack the ooomph of the twin towers. Maybe it will have more presence when the glass is complete and the other wt towers are built next door.

The external stairways on the north side have been raised, so that the cladding can continue..
