Only about a quarter of a floor.. but steady progress on cladding

I use this cam to follow the progress on the cladding:

Looks great, although i didn't expect something like that. The WFC always seemed a bit "closed" to me, although the inside with the winter garden is worth a visit. Good news that there's gonna be a change and the center gets a defined entrance!

The PA is pretty much obligated to produce a "1776" foot building. Childs had mentioned his desire to work on an alternative design for the antenna/spire. If anything is happening behind closed doors, we will likely not know for a while, however, the president is visiting the site, and if he were to find out about Dursts deubachery, it would be an national embarrasment not to have the original height figure as promised.

The CTBUH may not want to count the antenna, so maybe they will have to add a cheaper design element up top. It's all very unclear, and to be honest no one really knows what's going on with it, but the 1776 figure is not likely to go away.

It already has gone away, and it surely ain't comming back. Obama doesn't care about the stick, nobody other than us, skyscraper fanatics, care about it and even from our community one half likes the spire more, the other half (of which I am a part too) like the antenna more

It's not just about that, it's about the 1776 foot figure that was publicly shoved down our throats for the last decade.

Plus David Childs said he would work with the PA on an alternative design (people really seem to overlook that here), I see no reason why that can't happen. I'm not saying it's a 100% certainty, but at least there is still some hope left for this not to turn out a complete disaster.

But common people don't care about it being 1776 feet in official height. To common people height is unimportant. They most probably already forgot the 1776 figure anyway and they most probably haven't got a clue of the 1374 figure either

Whatever, the point is that the STRUCTURE is as tall as it is no matter what some pinhead decides to recognize or not recognize.

Whether it is "official" or not - when you visit the observation deck, websites, and see their marketing - I am sure they will still advertise the height as 1776. The vast majority of visitors will not care if CTBUH disagrees.

I'm sure that regardless of the "official" classification, you will expect to see creative wording like: "Soaring to an iconic height of 1776 feet, where a beacon shines a beam of pure American spirit, illuminating the very essence of our founding fathers' dreams..." ;-)

I guess my point is - the argument about the "official" classification will probably hold little weight with how it is promoted and publicized. The fact that there will still be (as far as I can tell) a beacon at that height gives them the number to work with. (Even if it isn't the official building height.)

Sorry but from some vantage points, the Freedom Tower doesn't look as dominant as it does from other angles. Especially from the Staten Island Ferry it looks like it's still under construction from January/February -_-

Obama will visit the site June 14th, and this article confirms it is still 1776 feet.

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/m...oHhzARmVUgbv4H

So finally, please change the title back to 1776 feet, thanks.
lol, just because they mention 1776 feet, doesn't mean that will be the height. Until the CTBUH says that it is 1776 feet to the pinnacle it is undefined. IT is a CTBUH measurement, they don't have a monopoly on this stuff.
