I do like the other buildings being with it but my point was that it is good looking on its own aswell.

I would even say that it looks better on its own than with towers 2 and 3 cause without them it is more dominating

The photo is distorted, causing the tower to "bend backwards" and appear shorter than the render, especially near the top (and bottom). I'm no photographer, but I think the photo would have had to be shot with a tilt-shift lens to prevent such distortion?

This site is beautiful, no matter how many towers are yet to be put.

I believe this is more accurate. It appears that this photo may have been taken before the last jump of the blue perimeter scaffold-netting as the tops of the corner columns don't seem to be quite as close together as Chibears85's close up photo shows. The next section of corner columns will definitely merge from what I see in that photo, so there's only one jump left to top out.

It's possible they may be hustling for a July 4th structural top out.

The problem with the comparison image is the render is a little bit bigger. If you scale it down so the WFC and GS buildings are the same size as in the photo you will get a little more accurate comparison.

On the other hand, it'll look good with the other 2 new towers standing, because it'll fill in the empty spaces, and #1 would still dominate.

One thing I'm struck by looking at those last photos is how you can't even tell there were once huge gashes in the buildings on the left with the copper roofs after 9/11.

This may sound a bit controversial, given how so many people alive have that event clearly in their memory, but events such as these only add to the gravity of the city in the long term. London's a city with many stories of devastation along the way, and it only adds to the appeal of a city - which at heart is a concentration of human experience and endeavour over time.

That anyone can even doubt that NYC will continue to thrive is very depressing when I read such views. A city is the sum of experience of the inhabitants - past and present, and watching these new buildings go up is fascinating simply because it gets to the heart of what it is to be human.

You guys are annoying with your complainings. Imagine if one of the Beyer Blinder Belle proposals were built. What we will get is a great complex of buildings, with a great memorial and station, and the way they develop this site is very New Yorkesque. FFS.

Tell me, what sense it would make to build 2 and 3 and leave it mostly empty? They WILL come, be patient and look back how the former WTC was developed over YEARS.
