Agreed. The black tarp kind of blunts the tower's height.

it'll be great if the tower topped out in july 4th, and the spire/antenna completed at september 11th (also there's a chance that it will be completed in the 1776th page of the forum)
and i think 1wtc didn't look as tall as the old wtc because 1wtc is surrounded by many taller buildings than the old wtc back then, so maybe it seems that way because the comparison of the surrounding skyline??

Let's do a comparison! (I love comparisons!)

The Twin Towers, with more recent skyscrapers photoshopped in.

Reality, from nearly the same angle.

1WTC seems to be better balanced with the WFC, but I'm sure it will look quite different once the rest of the complex is completed.

Isn't ESB at a higher elevation, than the WTC.

Question guys, when I go to N.Y I stay in the 20's on 1st avenue. What would be the best method of transportation to go downtown and visit the site and where can I get the best views of 1 WTC? I would really like to see this tower in person :p

Get on the 2, 3 or 4 train, they go to wall or chamber streets. And lower manhattan isn't that big, so it's EZ to walk to WTC.

I agree. Anyone know the proportions of the roof section compared from old to new? Ie comparing parapet sizes between old and new? I know that the footprint is much the same.

The best route though is the R train to cortland street leaves you right in front of 1wtc.

I like the walk from behind WTC. And there's no sidewalk traffic.

Why is the 104th floor taking so long to complete?

I suggest you to go to the West Street and walk its green boulevard all the way down to the WTC site. You´ll get amazing chances to take pictures and the possibility to take a walk on the highline Park, which is a MUST.

Construction

I doubt that there will be much progress today or tommorow. Extreme heat in the 90s and 100s today.

Hi everyone, my name is Steven, I've been watching this thread for about 8 months now, i have a real interest n this amazing building, from a construction point of view but also for the history behind this and what it stands for.
Im from Melbourne, Australia and I'm visiting NYC in December and cannot wait to get there and see 1WTC in person, and the Memorial.

So this is my first post on here after looking for so long, and i thought id contribute by combining the 2 images above, to see where the new WTC sits, i have used the building to the immediate left of the new WTC as a guide to place it in.
