[QUOTE=Gargarensis;92778887]If i recall correctly, Otie said something (to the effect) that the steel corner nodes specified had changed from the originals as depicted in his own model. Which is why i questioned the long-accepted assumption that the corner nodes would meet at the roof, and not the parapet.[\QUOTE]

Nope, remember when we had thought it had reached the roof but it really hadn't? Otie thought that they must've made a design change to allow the nodes to touch the roof but in reality it was because we were only at 104.

i think your on the money there, the image below clearly shows that the corner have not met yet. but what is classified as top out? because it has 1 more jump till the node is connected, and seemingly looks like the last floor, or is there 3 jumps left til the top of the structure? is that even 3 jumps? maybe its 2 because there is no floor....i don't know, anyone have any idea?

Yes your pic is correct.
As I've said before, the 105 floor(roof) is where the triangles will touch.
The parapet will consist of a wall of perimeter steel that will not be enclosed. The nodes will hold a piece of steel on top of the triangle as illustrated in Oties diagram that i've posted earlier.

Again, credits to Otie.

The shaft will eventually get closed once the core slab team reaches that floor.
Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know this tower was that complex.

The only skyscraper you can read about on this forum more complicated than 1WTC is Shanghai Tower. The WTC complex as a whole is among the most intricate construction projects in the world today.

I'm a bit rusty on the specifics, but if I remember it right, the current highest set of beams seems to be the last floor level, above that should be the roof of the structure. The last two sets of beams with an additional level of column should bring us to the height of the parapet, with catwalk install somewhere just below the top of the parapet.

^I'd say the most complex... itt's quite an engineering marble to fit 8 megaprojects in a 16 acre site, every single square inch is being used.

I'm just going to sit down and see how things gonna show up, I used to believe the columns would touch at the roof slab (based on a conclusion I made during the modeling process: which said that the corner columns started to slant not at the 20th floor but at the 23rd -IIRC- and if the columns slanted at the same angle as the facade stainless steel corners, then they would meet precissely at the roof slab), besides the papers I have show the exact same thing, but they're now useless since WSPCS made a major structural re-design some years ago...

Damn if 3 jumps are left, then there is no way this is topping out on July 4th.

I think August looks more realistic now.

otie has the right attitude. all speculation is moot, since the final structure is about to reveal itself over the next few weeks or so. im just gonna sit back and watch the tower resolve itself.

The parapet/perimeter should be quickly completed I assume... Since, it's only beams on just the outer perimeter and no beams in the middle for roof/floor/concrete support as with every other single floor beneath the roof, ya?

This could top out anytime soon now..pour concrete on existing floor, 1 more floor left..then the simpler outer perimeter roof/parapet beams.

2 jumps. Floor 105 and the parapet (which will rise in 1 jump). I think there is no chance that 1WTC will not top out in July

Ok, found an isometric projection drawing that appear to show the column corner junction being located between the roof slab and top of parapet, I was also wrong stating they were corner nodes, they aren't.

So it's just as tall as the originals in terms of roof height except the spire will make it 1776?
