Agreed. How can the PA be so incompetent? So many years and we still don't have a finished Freedom Tower

Not sure if drywall has much to do with it ? The original WTC towers........two of them had about an Acre of floorspace from the ground floor to the top floor...awesome!
Throw world events ( 9/11 ) need to rebuild, make a statement, make it safe and strong, WTC 1 is the result.....not that it is wrong or bad but if you see the floor space on many floors over half height no other building would have proceeded for purely economic reasons. But you guys had lots of other good reasons so great this wonderful tower rises over Manhattan.........When finished the complex replaces morally and architecturally what was lost............the people, well......RIP and hope you all smile that America did it's best !

Sure it's complex because of all the materials being added as well as the design. However, it should not have taken them this long to complete this Tower. From the 2008 PA Report, the Tower was supposed to top out in the fourth quarter of 2011 but that didn't happen and the Tower had just passed 1,000 feet then. I guess all you can say is don't believe the Port Authority or anyone else for that matter when it comes to top out or completion dates because they have always been proven false. Every project at the WTC has been delayed or pushed back over the recent years. The Museum was supposed to open by 9/11/12 but that won't happen as that project has had delays too so it won't open for another year at least. It's pretty simple, the Port Authority should not be running the World Trade Center anymore. I kind of wish they sold the property before 9/11/2001 instead of privatizing it to Silverstein in the Spring of '01 and still claiming ownership. Either way they should not be running things anymore despite the PATH tubes that run underneath. This Tower should top out by August I mean it has one floor plus the parapet to go and if they can't get that done by August that's just unacceptable. The original WTC used over 100,000 tons of steel per Tower and this one is only using about 45,000 - 50,000 tons so it isn't that much steel to install compared to the originals despite that pieces of steel used to build the original Towers were prefabricated off site prior to being lifted and placed by the kangaroo cranes. I predict by late July or early August this should top out so there better be some progress soon because we're almost there.
Wikipedia is saying that the tower will top out on August 13, 2012

Which marks 2,300 days since construction began and the concrete will be installed on the top floor on September 11, 2012.

Very good points and I agree completely. The only thing to add would be that they are completely ripping us off of money too.

I doubt it. It didn't stop 4WTC's steel from going up. Nor the steel work around the rest of the site.

The core looks massively large because the floor space is smaller compared to the orginal twin towers.
The Twins had a span of 60 feet between the outer wall and core.
One World Trade Center has a span of 40 feet between.

The 3 foot core really wouldn't make a difference.

I'd say security is so tight around this thing that it will never happen. Even back in the days when security wasn't so tight, I still consider it remarkable that that French guy was able to string a wire between the twins and walk it!
I thought that's what he was talking about lol

I know it's taking a very long time, however I think we can all agree we would much rather a building that is built properly. Not one that is rushed, especially the possibility of another attack if it occurred. I think one of the most exciting things is watching it's progress, even if there is delays everyone on here has marveled over the building itself and each little step taken to the top. Be patient, even though we all have been for years, however this building is extremely complex, not only it's design, it's materials and safety requirements. It's being built to withstand, most skyscrapers aren't, however this one has a purpose and it will top out, it will top out soon.
