Am I the only who is annoyed when I watch a movie and it takes place in New York City and the WTC never shows up in it? I keep on saying "All movies that are in NYC will have the WTC in 3-5 years"

I would guess that they are avoiding showing it in the construction phase, because that dates their movie to a very specific time. It takes a couple years to make a movie (or more) - so from filming to the release date - they would look grossly outdated already.

Conversely, those that show a rendering of a completed version indicate the future. So, I would guess it will be avoided in movies until the site stops evolving daily.

I agree with your thinking. The new Spider-man movie took place mostly in midtown Manhattan, so it showed the buildings in that area (as well as the building of the company in the movie - I forget the name). I was watching for the WTC building, but the one shot that could have shown the building in the distance - completed or U/C - was skilfully done, because it was exactly blocked by a girder or beam or something.

(P.S. Very enjoyable movie!)

I guess that would date the movie, but it also would be pretty cool to see it in the construction phase. There are a few movies in the late 60s and early 70s that showed the twin towers in the construction phase. A movie is dated by a lot more than buildings, cars and clothes are major factors as well.

This is an awesome shot. It really conveys 1WTC's height.

I used to live in Budd Lake, New Jersey ... the westernmost corner of Morris County. In fact, that is where I was living on the beautiful morning of Sept. 11, 2001.

In the movie "Click" there were two WTCs just like the old twin towers.

It was shown U/C in the distance in that scene where Peter Parker does his handstand on the roof of a building.

It was also shown U/C in both The Avengers and The Dictator, and judging by what I saw in the Dark Knight Rises Trailer, it will appear in that film as well.
