Nope, the roof height of the new 1WTC is 2 meters taller than the roof height of the old 1WTC and 4 meters taller than the roof height of the old 2WTC (N1WTC=419m,O1WTC=417m,O2WTC=415m)

all newest diagrams still feature the old spire. is the spire back or are people still making diagrams for the old design for whatever reason?

You Guys, One World Trade Center's roof is shorter than the orginal North Tower.
One World Trade Center- 1,334. That's the roof.
North Tower, 1,368.

Technically, you're right. 1 WTC's roof slab is at 1334 ft, but the parapet extends to 1373 ft, which counts towards the roof height. I guess it just depends on how you choose to define a roof.

I would agree with you if there would be nothing behind the parapet other than the antenna, however, behind the parapet there are cooling towers which are essentially small mech floors, so the true roof is on their roof, which is more or less the exact height as the top of the parapet. Therefore the roof height of the new 1WTC is 1374 feet

Here is a good pic (credit goes to Otie) which shows the cooling towers. Also, I think there must be more floors decks inside the cooling towers to allow simple and efficient maintenance of them, like when a screw gets loose or something like that:

Kanto, i guess it would be as another user said, how you define, I don't consider those cooling towers mech floors.

I'm pretty sure they decided to just erect the original spire anyway, because most websites have switched the height back to 1,776. I guess they'll just wing it and see what happens.

As far as whether it is a spire or an antenna:

1. It will function as an antenna.
2. It is encased and part of the original design, so architecturally, it is a spire up to 1,776 feet.
3. An additional 7 feet of antenna are not encased, so the pinnacle height is 1,783 feet. (Treaty of Paris).

I don't think so. 1776 is on the webpages simply because there still was no official PA announcement stating something different. I'm pretty sure the old spire is abandonned and lost forever and the new antenna will be built instead

Nope. The radome enclosure was dropped a few months ago because it was to expensive and hard to maintain.
So, it will just be the antenna, which is not counted in a buildings final height

Webpages switched back to 1,776 because there has been no official word on it's height by the Building Height Council.
It was just a bunch of media speculation, and a little common sense.
