I so cant wait to see this in person in October I can just imagine how high the glass will be then, and possibly the base having some glass on it!

I agree. It always has that blue gradient that is different from other buildings' glass facade.

When all four towers are built (If wtc has enough tenants/financial support) imagine all of the reflections then.

In the photos, you could see the colors of the building, but when I view it from 30 miles away, it is solid blue and the glass, concrete, and black coverings were indistinguishable. Maybe I just happened to see it on low visibility days?
It might be because there was a haze on the horizon, its actually visible most days even when it is cloudy. It cannot be misty, rainy, hazy, etc. It's tough to see the details of the building from 30 miles out, which is pretty far, but it's definitely possible to see where the glass surface transitions into the tarp covering. But seeing like the cranes can be tough.

Unless they want to tear the one under construction down, and re do the support, then no, they cant

American F*ck YEAHHH 1776 Americans are fixated on that 1776 height. The base is a fortress. I saw the report on Discovery Channel. Its built to withstand multiple truck blasts. No ones touching this this tower from the ground for a long time.

You could add 400 more feet. That base could support 2,400 feet.

Yes,but the top part of SWFC is nearly empty, there's no rooms around that big hole, add about 60 meters only for supporting the observation deck above that big hole. And I compare 1WTC with Taipei 101 and 2 ifc ,WTC looks taller.and 2 years ago Taipei 101 is tallest building.

My only wish for this wonderful building is that the antenna gets a new enclosure or something...

I know I know, wishful thinking and all, but this building really needs the crown it deserves!

I just saw The Dark Knight Rises and I can swear, I saw both towers under construction in the city skyline several times, and a few times in the cityscape scenes. Heck, I even saw the Empire State building, and even the US Bank Tower from LOS ANGELES. They really failed hard in creating a different city when they use real life city skylines, lol.

No they couldn't, the building tapers at an angle, so it would look awkward adding extra floors to it. Pls there is a 2,000 height restriction limit to all buildings in NYC. And besides, How do you know it could support 2,400 h
feet? You must be really good at math

Nice to see the final steel being placed these days. The glass shines magnificent with the summer sun.

As we near completion, what impresses me the most with this new tower and as a replacement for the old Twins, is how the whole project is going to look like when it is fully complete.

This tower is trully the pinnacle of the entire project. I find its tapering form genius as an architectural decision, that makes it look like the Washington monument from certain angles. The best part though? The clading. The more this tower gets cladded the more impressive it looks to me.

In short I think it is perfect as a replacement. Sure the old Twins will never be forgotten because of their sheer bulk, but this one is the future. And once the whole project is finished it will be more apparent than ever, that it was the right decision.

Only thing we need now is Towers 2 and 3 to start as soon as possible because there is a big gap between WTC1 and WTC4.

Oh and like I said in a previous post.... please enclose the antenna with something to give the crown more bulk...!

Edit: Just noticed it is page 1776! What a nice milestone for this thread and forum!
