It would never look like that period. It's a building, not a unicorn.

I don't believe the CTBUH uses lightning rods in their final measurements. I recall there is one on Beekman tower above its official 870 foot height.

Hi all.

The main height used by the council to rate and compare structures is the height to architectural top which doesn't include lightning rods, masts, antenna, flagpoles, etc.

The height to tip does include any and everything though. This is just as important IMHO.

Oops! Should have refer to the "Height to the Tip" category, anyways if they don't come up with an alternative enclosure, the architectural height of the tower will get stuck at 1373'-8".

just an opinion, i don't think SOM would gave up on the spire, i mean they had found a way to build the tallest building in the world in a desert sand. and these days theres so many skyscrapers in the world that had a great structural difficulties like SWFC, Taipei 101's adaptaion to the wind/typhoon/earthquake ect, shanghai tower's spiraling shape, but they build it anyway. it's too complex to be compared with JUST maintaining the an antenna. come on, the architect is creative enough to design an enclosure that made the antenna maintainable. i'm sure the economy wasn't that bad... is it?

i mean seriously i don't really care about height, it's that schorched toothpick as a crowning of 1wtc that i can't stand, to me it looks hideously wrong in every single aspect. and what would everyone thinks when this building show up in the future hollywood movies? it have be a wonderful icon!

thanks! or if they really hate spire that much, they could've camuflage the antenna shape in some ways that it'll look almost as dense as a white spire, no enclosure, still saves 20 million though, SOM should be able to handle it, i think...

That's what I was just wondering. I can understand getting his posts deleted, but he shouldn't have been banned.

How long are people banned? Is it like a week, indefinite time period, or, like, forever?
