I was under the impression that the new 1WTC is 8 feet narrower than either of the twins in both dimensions (200'x200' vs 208'x208')

There's a part at the top of tr lobby that appears to e wider than the base. What is the width of that? Also what is the width of the roof?

You'll just have to wait a few years, like the rest of us. If you REALLY want to see the workers' view of the site, you'll have to Visit the 'WTC Tower One' thread at http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3672 and find photos by IrishInNYC who is an iron worker on the site. Pictures are the best we can do on this forum, as there is no affiliation between this forum and the Port Authority.

This forum and the wtc construction site are in no way related in terms of affilation.
We just follow the construction progress from photos and updates from those who are lucky enough to get them.

This Tower has a footprint of 200' from column to column and 205' with the cladding on it. The original Twins were about 207' 8" to column centers and 210' 10" from column face to the opposite column face.

In other words, the width (thickness) and the height of this tower, is very close to one of the original WTC towers. So close, in fact, that the difference in width and height is negligible.

Any visitor to NYC will see how one of the original WTC towers looked in the context of the lower Manhattan skyline.

Of course the new tower is glassier and sleeker looking ... it is a 21st century building afterall, and the original WTC had a decidedly more 1970s look about it.
