Almost all renderings are shown during nighttime, where lights help dispel the incredible contrast between a clean curtain wall and a grotesque mast.

What are you're guys' thoughts on the completed result? I'm hoping it will look as 21st century as the shard! Or even better!

I think it will be hard... certain elements that were key to the good look of the design were taken away, and that seriously affects how this tower looks from all directions. Im am referring almost fully to the enclosure which in my opinion was very artful, provided the antenna with a full, strong and massive look, and lighted it would've been like a work of art... now we only ave what looks like a telecommunications mast in Siberia.

That's because when it was originally designed, it was (supposed) to be a much thicker and elegant spire. Anyway, if it is truly only the antenna going up and not the radome, I'll try and not complain. I'm still in denial.

i know that, im just saying it looks so big, the spire would have been the same size.

some of those renderings make towers 1 and 4 look horrible, they have not even been finished yet and already look better, they need new people to make renderings.

So the antenna will likely look much better in real life

^Yes,I love how it interacts with the light, but at the same time blends in very well with the building giving a sense of continuity, something the old base wouldn't do.

Just looked through my old computer that I had from 2002-2007, And found a random screen shot of an article on wikipedia about the 'Freedom Tower' from 2004, the odd thing is, I didnt track the Freedom Tower till 2006... Anywho, I boxed some interesting stuff from the original building.

Oh ya, And i also found this picture on there of the original rendering, I really dont remember seeing this render any where, heck I dont remember seeing the render since I saw it today...

Chilsbear58 You've made me the happiest person in the world. I've always wanted to see wikipedia's page for the old design.
Thank you.

The spire looks so gross on there. Like a child randomly glued it on. Anyways that's pretty cool!!

That church is so out of place;the whole design was an atrocity.
