Guys, stay on topic please.

And it's not necessary to quote pictures on the same page.

That is a nice picture, you can really see it's height now. The glass is also catching up

Is this the confirmed final design for the spire? Is there any chance of adding an outer covering similar to the original design in the future?

It needs to be more substantial looking and provide some contrast against the angular glass structure below it.

The original design was better because the sculptural/geometric form complemented the sculptural aesthetic of the building.

The naked spire does not complement the facade in the same way. It needs to be less clinical-looking, more sculptural, and provide greater contrast against the facade.

I wonder what it would look like painted white...

Re: Chibears85

I've been running various time lapse cameras since December 2011 and intermittently back to 2010 from Jersey City.

Wow! Will you post them on youtube when the tower is complete in 2013? Or will it go all the way to 2017 when 2WTC is done?

I can't find exactly that picture but it is similar to the one below with a more rural foreground and only the top of ESB sticking out.

I have good news and bad news.
Good news: My crane model is done [minus cab]
Bad news: If I work on it another time this month, my eyes will cross and I'll lose my mind.

Favco M760D test render by PMadFlyer, on Flickr
It sounded like a fun project, but adjusting lines and rope every time I want to adjust the radius takes about 30 minutes. I was hoping to do a slide show type presentation of the past month or so, instead I think I'll edit it in a month and just copy the progress of the tower at that time. Don't expect more work on the crane in the next month. I'll make renderings if I check the forums and there is a question easily answered with a graphic.
