It would appear that in theory, the Northern M760D in it's future location could lift the top of the mast into place with maximum boom and mast heights if tied to the very top of the platform.

These diagrams are made using a 6 year old INSPERON E1405, running windows vista basic 32 bit. Why keep using that!?! you ask, because it has NEVER crashed. also I'm upgrading in spring 1213. I don't play games and I use a newer laptop for typing and such.

^500 ft. Crane?

As much as I'm in limbo with the antenna debacle,it's still going to be pretty amazing seeing all the equipment and activity up there.

As always PMadFlyer, good and detailed renderings. Thanks a lot.

PMadFlyer the detail on your diagrams are amazing. It will be interested to see the 760 up that tall but I never knew it could free stand like that without any struts, would they need to install them into the antenna while it erects it? Out of all the methods done on the building this seems most interesting.

That's what I wonder. I cant tell, but I can't think of any other way to do it. I can't imagine a helicopter lifting the last bits. the PDF from favco said that 14 mast sections with an internal climber can be used without added support, I figure that same would be true for 14 sections above the tie-in. just look at T4. I figure that the South crane will not be used above the level it's at in my render and that it will be used for tandem lifts of the massive lower sections and the lower comm ring steel.

And to the other member's question. No. it's made of smaller sections [40 feet long each I think] and there are pictures of the sections being manufactured in a shop in Canada, but I don't feel like finding it right now.

I really thought today would be the day the building gets topped out.

Today is the 2,300 days since the contract was signed to being construction. Ah well.

Guess, next landmark date would be August 18, 2012, thats when it will be 2,300 days since construction began on May 3rd, 2006.

Lets hope it tops out by August 18th

It was my understanding that, at least heightwise, the building already IS topped out.

It looks like the first spandrel beam at the very top [of the SE and NE facades] has been placed!

There was a RUMOR that the structure may possibly be raised by 200 feet. I have no idea why this was brought into the plan
