To say the Shard is small is stupid. WTC is a lot bigger but that doesn't make the Shard small. Both buildings are big and would make it into any city in the world.

Word. Especially in a city such as London. It's not very small at all. However I did really like the shard next to 1wtc wonderful!
Also I'm not sure if i agree with people who say that 1wtc looks bigger than the original twins, but then again I haven't seen it in anything other than pictures. Last time I saw it up close was June 2011. However judging from what I see it doesn't have the same massiveness that the twins had, but it does look taller than the original north tower when the facade is complete I'm confident it can live up to the dominance of the original twins. That's is if they can manage to build 2wtc.

sorry to point this out lol but you didn't make much sence, you said it didnt look bigger then the old twins but you said it looked bigger then the north tower..the north tower was part of the twins and the tallest of the two

whoops.
Well it looks bigger than the single north tower but compared to both of the twins it doesn't look very big. It's pretty obvious why though. 2 towers are clearly larger than 1 tower. Sorry I didn't make that more clear

Whoever thinks The Shard is ugly, I don't know what to say. Shard is one of the most gorgeous modern skyscrapers ever built. In terms of design, Shard is far superior than 1WTC, while in terms of scale 1WTC is just massive and elegant. I am still confused about which spire they are gonna pick. The old one or the new stripped one.

well they're not using the old one. There might be a new design some time in the future. If not, the antenna like structure will remain (still no word on if it is being ruled as a spire or not)

I think the original twins looked bigger and more dominant because there was two of them. I just wonder weather 2,3 and 4 WTC will make 1WTC look more dominant or if it would look more dominant on its own.

2 and 3 will subtract from 1 WTC's dominance but make the complex a much better site to behold as a whole.

here's a quick MS Paint job

Thats what I was thinking. When you look at the complex when completed, the 4 towers look very big but take the dominance away from 1WTC.

The skyline looks great with Towers 1 & 4 but what you have is a skyline out of balance and Towers 2 & 3 will fix that. The Twin Towers had that balance meaning those two Towers alone were enough to balance the skyline because there were two of them, close together, and pretty much almost the same height. For now Tower One will dominate the skyline, which will give it just enough time to grow upon New Yorkers as the new symbol of this city.
