Is there a reason why this is not listed as topped out yet even though it sure seems to be?

One World Trade Center steel skeleton completed

NEW YORK — The steel skeleton atop One World Trade Center has been completed, reaching its highest point at 105 stories.
Written by
Larry Higgs

“We have topped out at 105 stories. We put the president’s beam in two weeks ago and topped out the steel – you can literally stand on the roof,” said Bill Baroni, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey deputy executive director, who added that he’s stood on the roof of what is now the tallest building in Manhattan.

The “presidential” beam was signed by President Barack Obama when he visited the site on June 14. Also signing the symbolic white beam were Gov. Chris Christie, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and site construction workers.

The next major work will be installation of the physical base for the spire and antenna mast, Baroni said. That will bring the building height to 1,776 feet. That spire will be hoisted to the top of the trade center in pieces after a concrete base is installed, he said.

“The big thing you can see is the glass will go in faster,” Baroni said.

As the tower has risen in height, progress on One World Trade Center is visible from miles away in New York and New Jersey. Other parts of the World Trade Center site, including the transportation hub connecting PATH trains to ferries and 10 New York City subway lines, is becoming recognizable, Baroni said.

“You can see it taking that shape that our (conceptual) pictures show,” he said."

So its an antenna AND a spire? How is that possible?

So that means glass should be completed BEFORE January 2013

My thing is, why was there no ceremony if this has officially topped out? They did it for Four WTC, did they think the terrorists would try to spoil a pre-planned topping out ceremony? It's just been confusing and nobody really knew if it was topped out or not.. I don't know Larry Higgs if others do let it be known.. Does he Know What he's Saying??? I just think it's kind of poor no one ever let it be known for sure, instead of everybody guessing and arguing..

Excellent news for an architectural icon of New York City and America,
even though not my country I'm proud of the work, built to remember the lives lost,
this completes America.
To the steel erectors !!!!!

There was some news aired when the beam signed by various VIP's like the President was lifted. But these ceremonies tend to be a bit phony anyways. Like 4WTC's. There was still a lot of steel that still needed to be installed after the event.

Besides, 1WTC had already reached it's final height weeks ago. So the building was at it's final structural height. An official top out ceremony really wasn't necessary.

most journalists aren't experts on this type of thing. just like how a few pages back that article was posted touting the building as the tallest in north america. it isn't, they are just saying that for 'journalism's sake' until the CTBUH steps in and shuts everybody up.

The old best game ever! "Space invaders are back"

Back to the topic, it's great if cladding get faster! Can't wait to see it finished (next I'll wait for the antenna!)
