On some of the renders I've seen there's a change in the appearance of the cladding near the top where they've got some decorative architectural elements that look like slots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/6417220195/
But I've also seen renders that don't have that at all. Does anyone know if this is what they're going to do? I do like the appearance of it. Thanks.

^ that will be what it looks like. Those grooves will appear when the cladding reaches the next set of mechanical floors

Yup, floors 91-93 (about six altogether counting mezzanine levels). I think right now the lower portion of the black netting is at the levels that'll have the special glass. I assume it'll look pretty similar to 4WTC.

Much thanks to NYGuy on SSP for posting these. Some of these belong in the Best NA or World's Best skyline threads. Lower Manhattan is inching closer to normalcy.

those photos are amazing and will make modeling the roof easier. I'll try to implement changes to the model in the coming days.

That would be a wonderful surprise...

There's still time to return to the original design, right?

I think it was a "Safety Hazard" Because it was to difficult to repair it if it got damaged...which is complete b.s., really the reason was to save 20 million, as if 20 million is a big deal when this building cost almost 4 billion.

Well, I'm glad that they decided to save those 20 millions. The antenna looks far better than the spire and with the antenna the building won't be cheating for height

there are lots of building that "cheat" with a spire, idk why people consider it cheating, its always been this way, that a spire counts.

Only for the past 800 years since the middle ages, that spires have been counted for a building height, some people should just get over it and accepted that that's the way things are .

Thea antenna/spire will probably count for height anyway, because of the decorative light on top.

Because in the case of 1wtc, the spire enclosed the antenna.

Most people,if not all, stop at the roof and don't look at the top of the spire.

The spire still has to be mounted to the building just like an antenna, I don't see much of a difference.
