I've heard nothing about this. We should avoid any shit storms over the antenna spire until the CTBUH has ultimately made up their mind, which probably won't be until after the spire is erected. They've already changed the ruling once to 1372 ft before changing it back to 1776 ft.

LOL, the removal of the radome cover for the antenna is the talk of the year here And I can't imagine the CTBUH would accept this antenna if it doesn't accept other antennas

the beacon is a decorative addition..hopefully they count something at least. Question: Does anyone know HOW MANY more floors until the glass hits the first mechanical floor to install mechanical glass with louvres? thanks

People should realize that in the upper office floors, maybe the top 10 or 20 office floors, the Port Authority has an asking price of $100 per square foot so that's why it's filling from the bottom up. In addition, even if the PA lowers that to say $90 per sf, that could be tough space to lease not because of lack of demand but because of the price the PA is holding out for.

In this drawing I have counted 94 real floors.

And since I cannot take a picture from here, this is what the tower looks like from Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Exactly 45 miles. My favorite view of the tower

In my opinion there is nothing architectural on a beacon. A beacon is just a light, but that is just my opinion

If I'm not mistaken, the last spandrel beam was taken up this morning.

I think the mechanical glass starts at the 90-93rd floors?

Not sure though.

They've already installed all the spandrel beams. Welcome to the forum

90 sounds right. So then i guess we only have 4 floors to go before mechanical glass. Although the 90th floor is exposed from the black netting it doesn't look too big unless it's a normal-sized floor

Iirc floor 90 is the last office floor, so I think (but am not completely sure about it) that they should be from the first mech floor above the last office floor up to the last mech floor below the first observatory floor

We tend to forget those two though.
Their roofs are under 300m. They're only "supertalls" if the spires count.

Might you have a photograph you can post? An article you can cite? I'm quite curious.
