I am sure the easiest install involves hanging the window unit from the floor above. However, These must be able to be changed out without having to remove all windows above. Imagine what it would mean if say, a 30th floor window broke. It would've incredibly disruptive to tenants if all above windows had to first be removed to maker a change.

I imagine it is some machine with industrial strength suction. It grabs the inside pane, turns the window on it's side, extends it out through the opening, rotates it to it's upright position, and pulls it back into place. Then it can be fastened to the building.

They left the cladding out because they started with a lift that reached untill floor 20 or so. Probably they are still waiting for the lift guys to pick up the pace

Glad to have my own spell checker.

Curtain wall enclosure has actually progressed, this week the 87th floor was fully enclosed (except the gaps left by hoists) and progress is going throughout the 88th (this floor is slightly taller than the standard ones).

Is vented glass next, or the row after? Sorry to repeat the question.

Till 91st, remember 89th and 90th are still office floors, 23' and 21' tall respectively.

Here's my view of the new cladding. As others has noticed, the glass now goes all the way across. I have no idea why. I'm not even sure why it doesn't go all the way across for the lower floors.

Perhaps they had to install the panes all the way around for the floors below the mechanical floors? Some kind of fitting issue? Just a shot in the dark and I honestly have no clue. Might also have something to do with the height of those floors. Imagine having an office with a 20+ foot ceiling. What the hell.

That's a good point, totally forgot about that. Only question left is, why they left the gap then on the other floors above the external elevator? But I'm sure there is some good reason for this..

Another question: do they also replace the southern top crane by another one placed in a corner, do they remove it without replacing it or do they build the spire/antenna with the current crane configuration?

but lost 2 bigger towers (in width) and then they just build only one the same height but with much better design. If at least 2 wtc had the same roof height as the old 2 wtc...

I think the external elevator on the West side will eventually rise up to that point on the building. My guess is different teams have access to each elevator. Steel and concrete and window teams use the east elevators, while something else like plumbing and heating, maybe even office build out teams, who would be building much lower in the building are allowed access to the West elevator. As they move up the building, that elevator will grow.

To your other point, I remember a diagram many pages back on the SSP forum that showed a different crane used for mast construction. The new one on the north point will haul pieces up from the ground and stage them on the roof. But the remaining tower construction crane is not tall enough to build the entire mast. Also, I think it is too close to the center of the building to build the mast. So I believe they have to move it to another point on the roof to continue construction of the mast. If I remember the diagram correctly, where they have built the temporary steel frame on the roof, there is a side that has taller pieces of steel sticking up. The other new crane will be attached there and braced to those taller steel beams for the mast construction.
