Half of the WTC site is in flood zone A. Hopefully the massive 6-11 storm surge that is expected isn't too bad! Apparently there are 25 foot waves out there and the surges might just push back into the bay.

I keep thinking about the tidal wave scene from The Day After Tomorrow haha.

For whoever is in the path of the storm, please be safe! Best of luck to you!

This guy predicted it

I'm more concerned with the track of this storm. A storm this large in size hitting southern New Jersey from the southeast is a worst case scenario for New York's harbor because all that storm surge would funnel up the bay into Manhattan. A full moon adds more salt to the wound since it means the spring tides will be at their peak. It would be much worse than nor-Ida/Irene in terms of flooding...

That's true. To all the Newyorkers on this forum, stay at home if possible. There's no telling of what might fall off of buildings in those winds and even a small facade chunk falling from 200 meters is a deadly projectile

category 1 hurricane gusts wouldn't be able to rip pieces of facade off of a building. Trees are the main problem with this kind of wind. The main concern is flooding.

It's almost a cat 2 hurricane now and the largest tropical system ever recorded in the Atlantic basin!

Firstly: The storm hasn't even hit landful yet. It's still 200 miles away from Atlantic City. And I'll tell you they are getting hard. It won't hit landful until midnight tonight(Monday)

Secondly: It's not considered a Hurricaine anymore. It's now a Superhybrid Noreaster. Same storm, different name. It can be as bad, if not worse than a cate 1 storm.

Be safe to all!

I'm in Philly,

Please, stay on topic... I've been deleted once today. So, nicely I ask stop making this thread weather central... The center of the storm isn't even going to make landfall in New York. The radar updates every hour isn't necessary.

Some are... The flooding due to storm surge is likely to happen, and precautions are taking place.

The storm has everything to do with the construction site! To start, it is now one of the largest storms on record with massive amounts of damage, AND the worst of it is most likely heading straight for Manhattan. WTC progress said it had a ton of workers laying thousands of sandbags on site to protect the materials.

That camera has been like that since Friday afternoon. They likely swung it inward to protect it from the wind.

no, it isn't but the areas that are in the most in danger are the northeast quadrant around the eye, where the storm surge will be worst and NYC is amongst it.
