I am so disappointed about all these delays i was hoping at the very lest 1wtc will enjoy the world's tallest number three spot for a little while, lets just assume that CTBUH will count 1 wtc mast, anyway now that the Shanghai Tower is soon going to surpass 1 wtc roof height it seems even if CTBUH rules 1wtc mast as part of it's height 1wtc wont have the number three spot for very long.

I'm glad about that because at least 1WTC won't be cheating. Better a lower position without cheating than a higher position with cheating.

Say that about almost every other building in the top 50.

From wtcprogress,

"Workers hoist boom assembly that will be used to install spire atop One WTC."

The pieces are at the Newark Port now. They won't be unloaded in trucks there. They will be transported (I don't know if in the same barge or if the pieces will be transferred to other barge or barges) in the next days or weeks to the pier 25 in Manhattan, located a few blocks away from the tower. Then they will be unloaded, and then they do will be transported into trucks for those few blocks. That will be a quite complex operation, since the pieces are very large so they need to turn traffic lights off the way, among other things.

So you don't want to see 1WTC be the tallest building in the United States? It must be, even for a day! As if this country could get any worse...

Nevermind.

Who wouldn't want this to be the tallest building in the United States? I'm sure alot of people would. But why should this be named the tallest building in the USA when the north tower of the old wtc was just as tall as this?

Actually I have no problem with that. I accept that cathegory as a secondary height measurement cathegory.

As to the transport, I hope they'll put up some webcams, so we can see the proccess. It will be quite an amazing sight. With the boom for the antenna assembly crane going up I expect this operation to be soon

That harbor cam on the statue is still down since the hurricane. I've always used that for the daily look at the progress.

Still pissed about the ugly spire. What a failure. Just look at it, ugly hunks of metal that will tower over the city in comparison to what they promised. Idiots! This is worthy of a radio transmitter in a corn field in N. Dakota, not NYC. The tower is 1400 feet, deal with it.

It has not changed that is always how it was going to look...what changed is the lack of the enclosure over top of this.

Let wait until it's actually up before saying how good or bad it looks.

Then they will not put the enclosure over top? change is very evident. Is very ugly compared to the white antenna.

I think it looks better without the radome. With the radome it was way too fat

I think you'd be surprised that even with the radome it won't be a fat as you think. The fact that it's white gives that illusion. But, it wouldn't be as fat as it appears in renderings. IMO, it adds substance and also gives the tower bragging rights as N. America's tallest bldg as it would be an antennae wrapped in a spire. Now, it's just an ugly antennae with no substance.

The latest is that it's been pushed back to mid-December...weather permitting. We shall see.
