One comment against the oh so loved new WTC and people start bashing him for his opinion.

I think there is no reason to fight. Who prefers which of the two complexes is a matter of personal taste and that will always vary from forumer to forumer

Come on now, let him have his opinion. If he prefers the twins, and is against 1WTC, that is fine, he hasn't been rude, so whats the problem ? Although the twins have been gone for 11 years, the memories before 9/11 are still fresh, and the image of NYC at night before 9/11 is something I will never forget. It had so much heart, and is definitely something I miss. At the same time I look forward to the future, and the new WTC. But you have to remember, that the Twins were part of this glorious NYC, that everyone knew and loved, and it hasn't been the same since. Those towers were a symbol for American greatness and ingenuity, they were the towers we saw in everything we watched, from Friends to Seinfeld, King Kong to Superman, they were NYC, and with them gone our image of this city has changed forever.

Nope. They still need to finish the last row.

The cladding is progressive at a good pace now, still somewhat slow. I'm guessing it will reach the top around the beginning of March. We'll probably see the slotted glass this month

It seems that the new wtc is taller than two meters but has a thinner design compare to the twins. But that EVERYONE knows it will never be epic when it stands alone without his brother by his side. Lower Manhattan is characteristically for the twin towers. New towers as old.

This will never be respected by me but eventually accepted.

They were very reflective of their era, so much so that I often wonder how they would have fit into a more modern looking skyline as is being created today with the new WTC complex.

The image of NY that I grew up with and became so fond of was one with them a part of it, and I was fascinated by them when I was younger, so I will always love the Twins. But I do think that 1WTC suits the city perfectly.

It really shows how MASSIVE the twins used to be.

The new skyline could never impart the sheer epicness and iconic sight of the twins.[/QUOTE]

I defff don't think it can be as iconic as the twins ever were. but IMO it has the epicness covered! A massive wall of great architecture! When they get 2wtc and 3tc built this will be very, very impressive!

To take our minds off of the old WTC, i'm going to put them back on the spire situation.

here's a nice rendering from Miller Hare of 1 WTC with the radome enclosure compared to the official PA rendering

and some more... both by Miller Hare

This is why I choose not to post here as often. The discussions are never on topic and someone is always getting hung on a tree for their opinions.
