That is the first section above the cone bit. The base sections are too massive to move without traffic signals being removed and the streets closed. These were carried by 18-wheeler all the way from the ADF plant. only one such section was on the barge pulled on the Atlantic Salvor. There are several sections next to the tower. Do we know if the floating crane has even come yet?

I remember when the original WTC went up it caused reception problems in the direction beyond it from the ESB. So being the highest point the new Antenna was set up on WTC 1. I agree that many of the new taller buildings seem to add an antenna. Maybe to add more revenue for leasing space with companies with IT ........most these days I guess

#edtealdi post seems to have a more modern reply........I was thinking more about TV reception. ( still can't figure why this needs guy wires ? )

There is a huge pour to be done in Tuesday for the antenna's base then they will start hoisting up the sections.

Here's a pic I figured I'd post....

at this point who cares, the building looks great whether its 1776 feet or 1370 or whatever, no one complained that the twins were to short so their shouldn't be any complaining with this one either

The LED lighting scheme makes sense to me finally. After modeling the mast seen in Otie's [thank you!] render, I realized that the plates for the bolted connections and the rings for the receivers and transmitters are perfect for holding strips of LED lights. I can make a 500x500 render of it... unfortunately, I can't upload it until January because I went over my upload limit on flicker.

325ccr, why will it take six months to install the antennae, shouldn't installation take no longer than maybe 3 months? Also, when will the glass pieces be installed on the base?

There's one course in Hogwarts for rendering and advanced visualizations. Otie was the best in class.
