PERFECT freakin time for Earthcam to screw up again....No spire view, no Oculus view, just when those two areas of the site are about to get interesting again.

From http://www.noodls.com/view/83C276919...45411FCF7DCAEE

Quote:
After traveling 1,500 nautical miles down the Atlantic seaboard from Valleyfield, Quebec, the spire that will sit atop One WTC will arrive in lower Manhattan at Pier 25 tomorrow, December 11. The spire will depart Port Newark en route to Pier 25 in the morning, prior to crews moving it to the World Trade Center site where workers will hoist it the top of One WTC early Wednesday. An advisory with details on hoisting the first section of spire will be issued tomorrow.
Can someone tell Earthcam to fix their cam as soon as possible?!

tandem pick? maybe

but that automatically makes it a critical pick and the charts go down even further.

manufacturers chart tip weight for the 760 is 64 MT. 75% charts for NYC DOB. then critical pick.

Maybe they wanted to write 6-7 tons, though that would look a bit weird in that sentence

Maybe two of the top cranes together? I think they have been working together before as well for very heavy pieces..

Cranes can lift things together? Won't wind destroy the weight balance and place on one of the cranes a heavier load than it can handle?

yeah thats why i said tandem pick above.

the wind is the wind. like any pick, its all in the rigging. When you do a specialty pick you usually require a lifting procedure and rigging diagram signed and sealed by a PE.

when you do a critical pick (using over 90% of a cranes chart, or tandem picks), you are supposed to have a pre lift meeting with all those involved to review the procedures.
