I see how they squared off the base above the lobby. They just extended the rectangular [8x12 inch if I remember right] pieces of metal from the large sides until they meet each other at 90 degrees. I don't know how they will square off the lower portion of the base.

Going to Battery Park to try to get some pics..

Diagram shows a Link-Belt, so maybe there is a 760 there now to tandem pick the pieces on the barge, then once the big stuff is set they will remove it and put the Link-Belt there. We already seen the 760 there now unload the sections that sit on the north side of the tower which means those are in capacity

no, there is no unique design for the comms ring. It's a ring around the spire. With communications equipment.

hi, I'm new here but I have been keeping an eye on the progress of 1WTC for a while and it has been great. The shape of the building, the shimmering glass all make this stand out and this during construction and I can't wait till it's done.

Perhaps they are planning to paint once all the pieces are joined at the top. My reasoning behind this is that the paint could get scraped off during the lifting/joining process. But in saying this it wouldn't be hard to touch up if they did paint it prior to lifting. Hmm...

Is there any chance of adding the white outer covering in the future?

Only if they land the plane on 2-3 I have a good feeling that,they will be stalled at this lack of height for YEARS..... And for the person who thought that was a typo,, they did say ,5 ton pieces and up to 67 ton pieces.
