I don't recall seeing escalators at the observation plans, something must have been redesigned up there.

I don't think base cladding will begin this month. Christmas is next Tuesday, and that's sure to delay construction. Besides they haven't squared the base off yet.

Yes, yes I see it here... escalators probably replacing traditional staircase at the MER room between levels 100 and 101st M.

You should look at the pics more carefully, stainless steel plates coming during the next days.

Its hard to tell, but I think you are right Otie. You can see the steel cladding that will eventually hold the glass fins at the very top of the base beginning to work its way around the base. We will get a better picture hopefully in the coming weeks.

Cold and rainy tomorrow in nyc. Will the first antennae section be installed in those weather conditions?

So when should see the first plates up? How are they doing this without it squared off?

Someone over at SSP posted serveral pictures of the base and I still don't see where they've squared it off yet.

But will the plates go up before Christmas?

You can clearly see the squaring-off from the KPI TV cams:

Pictures don't give the best detail, it's hard to even see the proportions of the base from the pictures' perspectives. This is not going to be a good week for working at all, windy/rainy for a good amount of days. Also, I am making a guess that they will count the beacon as an architectural element because it is unique above all skyscrapers.

Thanks to you and Otie. I haven't been able to check the KPI cams, issue with plug ins.

If not for 1WTC, it would dominate the skyline.
