I spy with my little eye, the first line of back panels immediately below the 20th floor. charcoal colored panels at top of corner uninterrupted by the steel columns and capped with a new line of reflective metal below the original stainless steel that is part of the 20th floor window panels.

The stainless steel that's going to connect the base with building looks so awesome.

That reflective stainless steel metal is actually part of the window washing track.

I wonder if they'll dress the spire up with Christmas lights next year...

They should install LED lights like the ones just installed on the Empire State Building on the roof to have the spire lit up in many different and constantly changing colors. Having a colorfully lit up antenna would be a first for lower Manhattan, and it would definitely bring some more attention to the area. But then again, this building is in the financial district, not the entertainment district. Either way though, I would love to see that on 1WTC!

Well, I personally don't expect any major work before Xmas. This is the last week before them and I imagine that it will mostly be spent for preparations for the site being dormant during the holidays

Why should they spend more than three working days to prepare the site for a few public holidays? I think they will work until Friday full steam ahead and then continue after the Christmas holidays in the middle of next week. As nyc=wtc already posted, they are supposed to lift the first mast piece today.

PS: please everyone stop calling these huge steel pieces parts of an antenna, it's just a mast which can hold antennas..

There will be LED Lights for all of the lighting up there. They're all RGBW so color changing is possible, although it will most always be white except for special occasions/holidays. Google CN Tower to get a feel for the lighting effect.

Indoor, there is no space for an outdoor observatory like on the old tower and the equipment on the roof don't allows people being too close.
