Now that it's going to be squared off (and as they remove the netting) the base is gonna look alike a Borg cube.

We just had a period of damaging wind gusts as well as heavy rain here in the suburbs so I doubt there will be any work today

Even down here in Georgia, winds are gusting to 40 mph. Must be hell up there in New York/Jersey right now...

I think they are squaring off the base at this time. Can anyone confirm this?

Two Favco M760d climbing frame panels north of the tower on the KPI cam. They are red and rectangular. they either came off the south crane or they are going on the platform crane to allow it to reach future height of the of the mast. I doubt they would install it before the largest sections of the mast are installed to allow the crane maximum stability thought, and it isn't out of the question that they are just unloading the south crane base on the north side of the tower.

I hope it';s just an antennae before evry other hundered thousand bldgs wnt to be re measured.

nobody's going to want to be remeasured by some pseudo official organization. It is what it is and everyone will have to deal with it at this website after the ruling comes out. Though everyone outside of the architecture community will still be calling it a 1776 ft tall building, spire or no

I think they are replacing the drive motors for the HD camera and cleaning it, The new picture does look a bit cleaner. give it time.

Great pics! By seeing the first one I can't wait to see the end result with WTC2 rising above the skyline next to WTC1! Eventually there will be 2 iconic buildings which will give the same effect as the old twins I think.

4 buildings, not as dominant as the old twins.

Yes but towers 3 and 4 are a smaller and less 'dominant' in the skyline perspective imo.
The twin towers will never come back and the alternative is thankfully better than the first designs from 2004-2006. In these designs the 'freedom tower' had a glass spire without any use.

Hard to imagine, 1664 Nieuw Amsterdam > New York:

I completely agree with you. The Twins were far more dominating than the new complex. The new complex looks rather shy in the skyline. It looks good, very good I'd say but it still is not a worthy replacement of what used to stand there.

The new towers actually look very elegant. Really looking forward to my first visit to New York!
