I couldn't tell but did they start the slotted cladding on the south side yet? And that's a really great picture

Not yet, still a few panes left for the current row, actually.

The only thing that has changed is that there won't be a single large restaurant, but there are several companies in the running to run smaller food joints. We might end up with several smaller food providers, however I don't think it will be "cheap" by any means. I wouldn't mind a small sandwich in the lower observatory floors, looking out the window at a nearly complete 3WTC and resuming 2WTC, knock on wood.

Wikipedia lists the top floor at 1268ft. Can anyone confirm this? That would be higher than the observatory floors, so the ESB 102nd floor observation deck will remain the tallest. Not? A bit dissapointing. 80ft shorter than the Twin towers top floors.

Yes, the Mechanical and broadcast floors are above the observatory floors for functional reasons. The same was true for the original twins, but the decreased usable floor area and increased amount of equipment in One World Trade Center, so the number of floors required increases. There is also mechanical equipment placed below the observation floors, these floors are visible in Nordschleife's photo. The picture shows the mullions that will hold the louvers. The perimeter columns above the observation floors in the highest mechanical zone are painted grey.

I just noticed that the glass is creating a thick band on that last row of glass because the solid part of the glass usually overlapping the concrete floors.
Also, a school bus fell into the river in that picture.

I thought the observationfloors were at 1,266 feet?

They will probably add a restaurant once all the tenants get settled into the building and formally request a high class restaurant to impress their clients!

Cladding will start once the base is squared off, which is what they are doing right now!

Wonder if the observation deck will open with the building? Can't wait to see manhattan from atop 1wtc as I never got to visit the original twin towers.

No, its not a huge deal but it will be annoying if its not even the highest observation deck in NYC(which it probably will still be).

In what way would it be annoying?

I'm pretty sure the observation deck should be higher than a building that was built 82 years ago...
