The suspense and tension from waiting so fervently for cladding to finally top off is driving me nuts. I am soooo eager to see this building completed! It's been so many years in the making

Nice pictures. The ESB looks like it's about fire a laser.

Listen to this song once while you look at the photo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izGwDsrQ1eQ. It's heartbreaking how related the lyrics are to the Twins...

Another shot of the new WTC:

That's some pretty kick ass pics, the 1st "pretty nice wallpaper for the month,, but it's gonna suck if they don't build 2 and even worse if notto it's original 2005 planned height.

Well you guys just be thankful this forum is flexible. Even a seemingly on topic post will bring you criticism from NYGuy on SSP

I hope the weather/winds do not cause problems. That seems to always be an issue and it too often causes delays.

BTW, has the base cladding on here started yet?

For the same reason you wouldn't replace your 1972 Chevy with another if you wrecked it. The Twins were wonderful buildings but '60's design and technology. The new complex is 21st Century design and technology.

Does this include the gaps for the external elevators as well?

Looking forward to the curtain wall coming down. I think the tower will really show its height once the curtain wall is down and the cladding finished.

When is the spire supposed to be completed?

So far they are only squaring off the base.

This is driving me nuts the fact they keep removing another webcam each time I visit the WTC cams. I miss the Harbor Cam from the Statue of Liberty which was one of the best. :/

Freedom sings
Out of tragedy and chaos has risen one of New York’s great buildings — One World Trade Center

By STEVE CUOZZO
Last Updated: 9:39 AM, January 27, 2013

"Behold, the new One World Trade Center — the unfinished, imperfect end-product of maybe the most anguished public soap opera ever to bring forth a single building.

Still in a raw state, it’s already cause to celebrate. The nearly $4 billion, largest, most fought-over piece of the puzzle in downtown’s epic skyline restoration turns out to be a gentle giant, graceful and humane as the Twin Towers were not.

Architectural eggheads will sneer at it, but the masses will just as surely love it.

Include me in the common rabble..."
