Just be glad it's not the Beaver House in that location.
That is the former ATT long lines building. It houses servers and communications switching equipment. The reason it's designed that way is to create a strong secure structure for all the vital equipment inside.

I personally like it quite a bit.

Amazing picture! House of god in the shadow of the house of commerce.
Isn't the lobby going to be very dark with those corners being coverred up?

It's actually praised quite a lot,and I don't blame them for it.It looks rather cool and domineering.

A major winter storm is possible Thursday-Saturday so progress may be impeded

It's looking huge now! Gives you a real idea of how dominating this tower will be when the spire is complete, can't wait to see it with my own eyes in a few weeks

Nice, so it will be visible or nearly visible from far away, like Breezy Point. With a good zoom.

I'm confused - this photo shows the skyline from the west (NJ) but the dock says "East River Ferry," which I thought only ran between Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Am I missing something? Beautiful photo regardless - just confused.

That is because the East River Ferry is part of the New York Waterway, which has many routes around NY. This is the 14th Street Ferry Terminal which goes to the Battery Park City Terminal at the World Financial Center. Also daily service to the West Midtown Ferry Terminal.

Nice, so the next parts are also a lot less heavier.

Interesting! I love the East River Ferry - can't wait for warmer weather so I can go bar hopping on it. Fingers crossed they follow through with plans to extend its route. Sorry for O/T!

They are lifting already the tapered part, aren't there any pieces left with the larger diameter?
