Does anyone have a cutaway of the core showing how it was built?

Amazing photo by the way.
Most of what you are looking towards is the Bronx.
Manhattan is at an extreme angle. Solid Walls of Buildings of at least 20 floors stretch from Battery Park all the way up to around 90th Street. Thats 130 blocks of 20 story buildings. 12-30 floor buildings go all the way up to 225th street the tip of manhattan. Its nothing to sneeze at.

(Not so) fun fact: the larger section put up today was designed to be flush with the radome, THAT'S how big this spire should be. It just puts it into perspective. F**k you Durst! Up until now I've tolerated the cost cutting and safety measures, but this is like a slap to the face.

This might be a stupid question, but why do they keep saying it's height will be the highest in the Western Hempishere, Last time I checked Canada was in the Western Hemisphere, and I believe the,Spire/antennae will fall maybe 60 feet short of the CN tower's pinnacle,, why are they saying this? because CN isn't technically a bldg, even if it's tip is still taller, why isn't the Cn tower ever mentioned,,I really don't know? that's why I'm asking,, and back on the WTC is the guyed wires attaching to spire piece 8or9, and will they start the (tie down) work of these first to the erected 8or9 pieces? or will they do that lastly after the entire 18 pieces are connected?then do the tie down part? seems like they would complete the spire 1st so the tie down cables arent in the way,, and doe anybody know just how many tie down wires they're going to use?

I wonder would it be possible someday to correct this error in some distant renovation project?

Once the full spire is up, the lower parts won't look that big anymore.

Not really, that's the area near woodlawn, an area with a lot of Irish immigrants, even today. That area is not particularly bad. Closer to Manhattan is the southeast bronx, that's the bad part, but even it's getting better.

And just so all the ignoramuses know, the Bronx has a murder rate around 10/100,000, and Boston where I live has a murder rate of 15/100,000. I say that because no one is scared in Boston, therefore you really shouldn't be scared in the Bronx.

Ι have been following the construction of this beautiful tower for quite some time now. Even before I decided to register I was here drooling over the project.

I was so overjoyed when the building topped out...

But now... this part, the construction of this atrocious antenna (hell if we call this a spire and the old WTC was an antenna... or the one in Sears tower...) is really really depressing...

I know I sound like a broken record and this board tends to go bananas when someone posts something that is not construction material (but hey... it actually IS construction material), or that has something to do with the antenna, but I just dont care.

This is a MONUMENTAL fackup. MONUMENTAL.

The created a symbol, a tower that supposedly defines resilence and freedom and they gave it that POS of an antenna as its crown...

The original was simply beautiful... MASSIVE...ARCHITECTURAL...DESERVING.

It is as if someone bought a Ferrari and decided to put plastic wheel on it.

In before the -take your whinning and gtfo- and the -cool story bro- and the -good now go whine someplace else- offtopic posts.

Only a miracle can give this tower a much deserving radome enclosure. At least a cheap ass one... for heaven's sake give it the one the old WTC had... even that is MILES better than this ugly collection of toothpicks...

Peace.
