I think we've all (myself Included) judged the antenna to harshly. No it's not what could have been, but it's not bad. It's really imposing, cleary visable and it's not looking bad. I actually like this antenna. So far so good.

Base Cladding is excellent, the KPI cams don't do the glass justice. It's really marvelous how this building is coming all together.

I don't know if this has been asked before, but how do you get on the roof? Doesn't look like there would be any way to get there from in the building.

Wow, that's really nice. Honestly, I'd love to be a window washer. Getting paid for that view is a win-win!

Fun fact: Window washers on skyscrapers in Manhattan get bombarded by barley pellets from the Midwest.

No joke! In the early 1990s, a bunch of window washers atop ESB complained about being hit repeatedly by tiny pellets. Some scientists were hired to look into it, and discovered barley pellets had ridden air currents from the Midwest to Manhattan.

Weird...

I hope that blue netting on the mast is temporary.

The yellow poles are fine, gives it a bit of colour.

Wait until the glass fins are extended out. Right now they folded in for installation.

I was wondering why the base glass wasn't extending out. Now all we need is for 2-3 WTC to get some tenants!

Great, super crisp, shots chapelo,,thought the base cladding looked dull until the closeup pic by zvelda,, looks worthy,, I just don't understand why the antennae has to have so many different shapes to it, instead of 1 smooth 400 high foot,, wider to thinner transition as they go up?

The blue netting, the yellow poles, and the platforms they are attached to are ALL temporary. The platforms that will remain permanently are the ones with the silver guardrails above section 8.

The progress is blazing now! With good weather, it could "look" substantially complete in a couple months! Interior work will go on for quite some time, I would imagine...

Ιn my opinion, even the radome skeleton (without the panels) would make this a beautiful spire. The fact that we see it naked as it is right now is... really... sloppy. (to say the least)

I always look at the big picture, and when it comes to 1WTC the big picture is that this tower has been through hell, it took 6 years to decide what you want to do then another 6 years to actually do it, billions of dollars and now... after we have been through all this... we mess it all up for a few millions.

It is just stupid... it is really shame.

My hope now is that maybe after some time has past, some sensible folks will make designs for an enclosure (even if it is not full enclosure), something to hide those ugly catwalks that were not supposed to be exposed, something that will actually make this antenna look like an actual architectural piece of the tower, a spire.
