No offense, but no, I won't be citing any sources for info about the beacon or the rest of the mast lighting. I'm choosing to share info with the community of fans who are keeping up with the progress of this project. You'll just have to trust me, I guess. If anything I say turns out to be untrue, feel free to call me out for it later. I don't claim to have any insider info on anything non-lighting related, though.

Then why should he trust you. RKOwens4, the beacon is in a warehouse and it will be a rotating light that will be visible up to 50 miles+......this was explained in an article back in May and January with information from the PA

I'm still a little skeptical because I think the beacon may be an architectural element. No other building in the tallest of the world have something like this, let alone any building at all. That be great if they did count it

In that pics it looks to me like a tiny Tokyo Sky tree on the roof.

Ok, then don't trust me. Do...Don't...I don't really care either way. Just trying to be helpful. If you want to distrust what I claim on here, that's your prerogative. Btw, only section #17 is in the warehouse. The actual "Beacon" which is the light that goes inside #17 will not be there for another few weeks. Don't believe me?? Wait and see.

Hmm, not sure. It looks they may have been using some old information for the diagram. I remember back in 2005-2006 that most of the infographs I saw for 1WTC said the observation deck would be at 1,362, which we all know isn't true.

No I meant the cage-like structure for the beacon is in the warehouse, not the *actual* LED's

People need to chill out over the antenna/spire issue already. The decision to strip the radome has already been made by the corporate powers that be, namely Durst, long ago, and nothing anyone says can change it. As of right now, I don't think the antenna does much for the tower, it doesn't mesh well visually with the main building (probably because it was meant to be covered rather than be a visible feature). However, I am a glass-half full kind of guy, and I'm holding out hope that the tower will look decent when it's finished with the antenna, guidewires, and communications ring. Perhaps they will come up with something at some point to make the antenna fit the main structure better, we shouldn't throw in the towel just yet. In my opinion, something as simple as fattening the antenna or filling it in at the base & tapering it just a bit might make all the difference in the world, and make it look better with the tower.

This video gives a great example of how the beacon will look.

Neat video, but if you're referring to the 1:03-1:04 mark, I don't think that will be very representative of how the beacon will work. In the video it seems like a simple glow at the top of the mast. In actuality, it will be a rotating beacon shooting in two horizontal directions and will be visible for miles.

Like a lighthouse. I see how it works now. Did you all know the original WTC had some type of beam/laser on it? I'll see if I can find the picture.

*Edit*
Can anyone clarify if this was real or not...

It was a real laser show, but not permanent. That was a summer/special event thing only. They did one about a week or so before 9/11.

The one pictured here is from July 2000.

They are waiting to achieve a proper grout strength of the mast base plate before the mast anchor rods get tensioned.

Streets phase II package contract -including sidewalks, curbings, traffic signals, bollards and other stretscape elements- adjacent to Tower One was authorized by the Board past Feb 6th.
