I'm waiting for http://www.replicabuildings.com/ to come out with a replica. They do an amazing and very accurate job. I've bought many replicas from them.

It is kinda cool though.

The guy-wires that will be installed..will they be more for appearance or actual support? I cant imagine they would play a large role in the latter.
Its gonna be interesting to see how visible they are.

What's the forecast for the rest of the week? (Aka, is there going to be significant progress tomorrow?)

Only Piece 12 is waiting to be lifted in place at the top. The other spire pieces haven't been delivered yet. If weather is good they might lift the staircases that are on the street on the north side of the tower.

So other than the one piece, I don't think we'll see any major height increases for awhile. After #12 though, the next pieces are 40 feet tall (the last one is just 30'). Will be fun to see those put up.

Support. They are using eight SIX inch diameter Kevlar cable with a 10 pound per foot weight and a breaking strength of 2.5 Million pounds, although their rated strength is lower. Also, there are eight of them. source for strength and weight

Mabe it's a generational thing, I'm 40, I don't like how the ESB looks at night,(red white blue) maybe the younger cats do,, I just think it looks Gaudy, and HOPE they don't to anything to 1WTC like that. That building that follows the flow of the diagonal streets.(6 renders up), thet's the FlatIron bldg,, looks old as hell, but my God that's 1 of the coolest buldings I've ever seen. I've seen the building in pics, and posting, just never knew it's name. When was that constructed, and how tall is it? However, It still looks like a gem, that's why I don't wanna see them f-up the antennae on 1WTC, these bldgs are going to be here longer than our great-great-great grandchildren. And I'd love to see all the 4 built in my lifetime. Probably won't happen and I'm 40.. I'd be happy if they at least went up with WTC2. In my dreams That should of been started before WTC3? anyone know why it wasn't, I've heard ppl say tenants, but if they can get 3 full, they coulda got 2 full, with a few more leases. On a different note I looked at the building replica,, Talk about expensive.. That's a little too much 300 (like someone said) $300, I woulda guessed maybe $35upper end.

We still have them here in Philly.

I used to go to NYC every month to visit my favorite uncle who lives just a block down from the Beekman Tower, and about 6 - 7 blocks from WTC ... but I haven't been there for more than 6 months. I gotta go and see all the progress made on the tower!

To those of you who post the photos ... thanks!

He lives in one of the Southbridge Towers right. I saw you say that when I looked back the Beekman Towers thread recently.

imo the top looks more like the Khalid Al Attar Tower in Dubai, which is actually quite ugly.
