I got one exactly like this in a souvenir shop in Times Square early last spring. It is supposed to look like 1WTC before the redesigned base and spire. I haven't seen an updated one.

ugh

Hotel Attraction (wikipedia)
Here is an example of a normal project by the Spanish Architect, perhaps the role model for Santiago Calatrava.

Although this one isn't painted, and I don't feel like posting pictures of his more colorful works, but imagine this but with colored tiles on every inch. I'm a fan of Calatrava, but I'm gad 1WTC was selected in it's current state, more or less.

As far as I know, the architect that says that Gaudi may have built a skyscraper in New York was Matamala. But as Gaudi's archives were destroyed during the spanish civil war, almost all the drawings and references are from Matamala. Some people says that Matamala lied, although it seems that it was a real project of Gaudi.

Wikipedia (in spanish, not in english) speaks a bit more about this: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Atracci%C3%B3n

But don't worry, you have the Google translation here: http://translate.google.es/translate...%25B3n&act=url

Anyway I think that after finishing the basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona in 2026, the world will need more "Gaudi". I see possible that in the future we can see a Hotel Attraction in New York. In fact I think that Gaudi's influence in the architecture of XXIth century will grow, there will be a lot of imitators. Anyway he discovered the following step in building styles after romanesque and gothic, the parabolic style.

Maybe because that progress isn't easy to follow from behind the fences.
Anyway it is this far.

A ton of progress today!

As Tim's photo shows, the base cladding on the South facade has gone up 2 more levels today. Also, the remaining black netting on the East facade has been removed, and base cladding should commence on that side within a few days.

Mechanical cladding on the SE facade went up at an incredible rate, with about 70% of it now completed on that side.

The spire on top of 1WTC looks like a gigantic hookah. I'm gonna refer to the spire now as the Hookah

Unfortunately, piece 12 will in fact wait until remaining sections arrive to be placed.

That one spire/antenna piece is still on the platform. The weather for the rest of the week isn't looking good either.

This guy has a few good photos in and around the WTC site(few weeks old).

Spectre or Otie probably knows. I'm guessing mid-March, but that's a wild guess that is backed up by no information whatsoever.

Much like the spire/antenna debate, we shouldn't judge it until all the cladding is done, and fins are extended.
