[QUOTE=thejacko5;100504373]talked to the bolt guys that supply the bulk of fasteners for steel in the city.

spire splice bolts a special order, run about $30/each.

Jacko 5; 30 dollars for a bolt, do they at least throw the nut in for free? No wonder why this Bldg is so expensive..
I can't remember now was the base solid concrete, or were there cutouts for some window? Solid concrete then the whole lobby will be nasty flourescent lighting.. I hate flourescent "headache giving" lights,, hopefully there are cut outs for natural windows, and has there been, (somebody has to know smoething), any word where the hell the rest of the antennae is,on a boat,(iced in, out to sea),bytruck? (hijacked because the PA didnt pay them all their money yet, tired of seeing lonley piece 12 on it's own up there. Has weather been a problem because we had a perfectly calm sunny day here in midwest, hopefully u guys get this weather tommorrow,, but then again it's Saturday will they have a full crew?

Can anyone tell why the row of windows on the first floor (just above the base) are still missing every other one?

No, I'm judging it by the vision that is being shown. We live in an era of almost unlimited possibilities, and making a really nice preview and visualisations of a building aren't as expensive as some would imagine. I just feel that the renders don't really look like they represent one of the most iconic and expensive business and transport centers in the whole world.
It's almost funny that renders of 1WTC from the outside are much better in quality and visual appeal - the base is very interesting and looks really cool in my opinion. It seems as if the interior image was just a draft.

What I don't get is how towers 2-4 are so close to the street compared to 1WTC yet this is the only one with a bunker/base. What makes them think the same risks don't apply to the other towers that are huge themselves?

You think the other towers aren't strong, there will be security for sure.

Church St will be part of NYPD campus plan with vehicles restricted that can use it and the traffic lane closet to buildings will be segregated by a median and the vehicles closet will be trusted after undergoing a search before they get close to tower 4. Google NYPD Campus plan and you can see the EIS document. West Street meanwhile will be wide open to trucks and vehicles hence a greater threat.

Tim is right,

They all were designed with security features into design, not as an after thought.

Tower 1 is a target, the other ones are not. The other towers also do not sit next to a highway.

Yea but all the buildings will be full of people? You can't just assume Tower One is a target alone, thats the scary part. Hate to even be talking about this

Yes yes I know all of this but I'm just saying the other towers are just as much of a target in my opinion at least maybe not because tower 1 gets all the hype basicallybut I was just curious as to why maybe the other buildings haven't gotten the same type of base as 1 and 7 that's all all(yes I know 2-4 house retail as well)

I don't think it matters whether it sits next to a highway or not if a terrorist wanted to get to any of the buildings the highway isn't going to stop them and neither would any of the pther streets..like I said I know the security plan I was just curious about the differences in the base plans between the buildings

Towers 2 and 3 have retail in their bases correct? As opposed to 1 which is an office building lobby. Nobody wants to shop in a store with no windows. That's my guess

Plenty of base cladding progress on the South facade. We're 8 levels up now.

I used to think the corner view made it look really stumpy, but with the massive cladding update it looks way taller.
