The last pic makes me think, that as soon as 80 South Street went up, the entire WTC won´t have much of a really noticable impact on the skyline, from the Brooklyn view.

True, it is kind of incredible to think that given how similar they are, one city has a GDP of 390 billion vs. 1180 billion (as of 2012). I think it would be interesting to see a relationship between GDP and skyscraper construction.

This is no joke,, this is a serious as hell question,, I have no Idea how that could work...
There was a great article in the Feb 4 New Yorker ("Life at the Top: High Rise Window Washing") - unfortunately, you need to be a subscriber to read it on line, but here's the heart of the matter:

"At the end of 2009, Tractel-Swingstage was awarded its largest contract yet: to design and build a scaffold that would enable window washers to descend the prismatically sloping glass walls of David Childs's hundred-and-four-story One World Trade Center, due for completion in 2014."

These are the same guys who built the gizmo that hangs from the top of Norman Foster's Hearst Tower - if they can think up a way to fit a scaffold around that crazy shape, 1WTC should be a cake walk...

You can see a couple pictures of their contraption here: http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showth...l=1#post189820
