Glad there will still be a observatory. With Hudson Yards North having one there will be 4 amazing vantage points to view this city.
. Hudson Yards to the west
I hope Hudson Yards does not get built or at least gets relocated. It will block the Empire State Building from different vantage points in NJ

So you would have billions of dollars of economic progress postponed for the sake of a view? If thats not insanity, I dont know what is.

What you commented is an important thing for many people on here to realize. When someone constructs a tower that significantly alters the skyline, they rarely do so solely for the purpose of creating an aesthetically pleasing (or unpleasing) skyline. You don't invest an exorbitant amount of money just for looks. There is some sort of beneficial result involved in constructing towers that results in a direct beneficial result for someone. Constructing a tall HQ for a company may result in increased efficiency and more money output. Constructing a luxurious residental supertall benefits it's residents and certain investors.

While it's always nice to see an aesthetically pleasing building rise (and to some extent, the developers will even conform to make it pleasing) one must remember that the sole focus is not aesthetics.

However, it is always nice to see a brilliant building placed in the most pristine location for a skyline, regardless of it's economic use.

It is not insanity, it is nostalgia.

This has been asked a thousand times on this thread/forum,, I believe there's another thread/forum for that, this is about 1 world trade center. And it's progress.

Ok go right ahead and alter the "billion dollar view" we New Jerseyans have had for 82 years. Why don't you actually go in person before you start off with your snotty comments. Geez you kinda people really annoy me, no offense. Always have to have an answer for everything

I don't know if that was meant to be sarcastic () but when I went there I could only see the top 1/3 of it most of the way along the highway.

Great photos

Well yea from some vantage points its not even visible but from others such as NJ it absolutely dominates Midtown. But it cant just be ignored and swept under the carpet because it is still significant!

I wouldn't doubt it if the communications ring was ruled an architectural element integrated into the design. Just looking at renders, it looks more like an extension of the roof to me than not. That'd put it just over 432 Park height-wise.

Nice observation! You can see good progress on the SW side in one of Controversy's pics. That's floor 101 being clad, for those who are wondering.
